Brand New Blog

Hi,

I am very new to blogging. It will take me some time to get used to revealing myself. The intent of this blog is to share information on my family and other associated family names. I am a Ridgeway. I have been researching my family now for about 30 years. I have good, verifiable information on my background. I am looking forward to exchanging some of that data with you as you share your information.

So with that in mind, let's begin with some basic facts. My ancestry goes back to Joseph Ridgway and Mary Smith out of Clerkenwell, St James Parrish, London, England. They had a daughter Ann and one son that I know of Samuel. Samuel was born in 1709 in England and migrated to Virginia where he ended up marrying three times. My lineage continues with Samuel's first wife, Elizabeth Woodson. They married in Virginia on November 2, 1739.

Elizabeth was Samuel's first wife born around 1712 in Henrico County, Virginia and died around 1741.Two of their children are:

James B. born around 1740 in Virginia. He married Elizabeth CHIZENHALL.

John was born on September 3, 1741 in Virginia. John married Charity Hendricks. He died on September 3, 1781.

One of Captain John and Charity's children related to me was Samuel Ridgeway. He in turn married Catherine Atwood and they had a son named John Ridgeway. John Ridgeway married Ann McGee. They had a son named Barzilla F. Ridgeway. He married Rosetta Griswold who bore Barzilla a son named George Gilbert ( my great grandfather) Ridgeway. One of their sons was Emmett Ridgeway (my grandfather).

Whewwwwwwwwwwww.... alot of condensing there.

This is a beginning that I hope grows with time and information.

George E. Ridgeway Jr.
